No Need for Fancy...

No Need for Fancy....Sometimes you get overwhelmed with all the patterns and designs and pretty things. Yes this coffee cup is plain, but it actually contains a lot more than just the white and the black. It comes with an interesting conversation, the meeting of a new person  and  the anticipation of great food. Sometimes we get so caught up with materialistic things, labels and fads that we miss out on the simple things in life. Stop and say hello to someone you have never met or haven't spoken to in a while. Conjure up a conversation and see where that takes you. You could learn a lot.

A Note for You...

A Note for You...Ended up dining at 3AM one Friday night at The Lakeview Lunch. This place had walls full of post-it notes written by patrons. Some where sweet messages, some were funny, and some just plain didn't make any sense at all. But it was fun to doodle or write whatever was on your mind at that point, and stick it on the wall for the next person who sits at your booth to see. You never know, someone might read your message, connect with you and a new relationship might blossom.

Weatherproof Me...

Weatherproof Me...I was hesitant in buying Sorels for the longest time and decided to stick with Uggs because they 'looked better' but I ended up destroying them and having to buy another pair every other winter. Then, I took the plunge, and bought my first pair of Sorels. At first, it felt like I was walking on the moon, but now I can't get enough of them. They are functional, and maybe some can even say stylish. I hope this will be my first and last pair as I would like them to last forever. Do something you are hesitant in doing, and you may surprise yourself.

Salt & Pepper...

Salt & Pepper...cute little salt and pepper shakes. I always wondered why salt and pepper were a couple. Why not salt and sugar? Is it because sugar and spice are together? But there are so many spices out there, so which spice gets to partner up with sugar? Do things just become a norm because society makes it so? Why do we have to follow the norm? I say, don't always follow the norm and go outside the box once in a while. Have some fun!

Curious About You...

Curious About You...Do you ever see the back of a person, and wonder what the person looks like from the front? What sort of facial expression they have at that point in time, or if they look just as good as they do from the back? Do you ever imagine what other people's lives are like when you walk behind people on the street? Where are they going? What are they thinking? If you had the ability to read minds, would you want to? I'm not sure I would. Exploring is so much more exciting than knowing everything up front. Don't you think?

Lucky Number...

Lucky Number...Do you have a lucky number? Or do you have a few lucky numbers? The Chinese like to think that '8' is a lucky number, because it sounds very close to 'prosperity' in the Chinese language. So you buy a house with the number 8 in it, or live on the 8th floor,  get a license plate with an 8 in it (or several 8s if that hasn't already been taken), and have multiple 8s in your phone number. You'd think, with all of that down, you should be a millionaire with all the luck in the world. If only.

We all Need a Vacation...

We all Need a Vacation...Some people go on vacation because they want to see new things, indulge in different cultures, and to meet new people. Others go away to clear their mind, get away from the chaos at home, and to find themselves. I find going away can be both refreshing and stressful. It all depends on where you go, what expectations you hold with you, and who you go with. So my advice is, choose your destination, set your expectations and pick who you travel with wisely. Because really, it could make or break your trip.
(PS. both my trips to LA and Alberta were amazing :p)

A Bottle Full of Warmth...

A Bottle full of Warmth...my travelling 'sister' introduced me to this great little piece of metal.  It is a hot water bottle,  super insulted and you wouldn't even know there was scalding hot liquid in there. I personally love to drink hot water, especially when its cold out. People use to say to me, 'only old people drink hot water'. Well, I'm not getting any younger and hot water brings some sort of comfort to me. What about for you?

Pretty Ruffles...

Pretty Ruffles...Who doesn't love shoes? I'm talking both guys and girls. We all do. Shoes complete the outfit, they help protect your feet in style. Functional and stylish. Awesome. Do you have a pair of shoes or multiples pairs of shoes that you just absolutely love?

Homecooked Goodness...

Homecooked Goodness...Nothing like sitting down with family and friends and enjoying a homecooked meal. Homecooked food never tastes the same as restaurants, but it's not a bad thing. It's not the flavour that concerns me that much, it's about the people you share this food with, all the effort put into making this meal, the conversations and the laughter. Now that's what makes a homecooked meal so wonderful.

Coffee, Tea or Me....

Coffee, Tea or Me....Something I can't live without now especially in the morning is a cup of caffeine. Coffee is usually the choice but once in a while, I reach into my cabinet for an adventure. Tea comes in all kinds of flavours. Sometimes I like it strong, sometimes I like it fruity. Depending on my mood that day, I like to change it up. Little excitments here and there in every day life keep it balanced, won't you say?

Sunset on the Road...

Sunset on the Road...don't get me wrong. I love to watch the sun set. Just not when I'm driving towards it. I find it so blinding, distracting, can't fully concentrate. And sometimes it hurts my eyes. How something so beauitful can become so irritating depending on the situation. Just like life.

Keys to the Past...

Keys to the past...vintage keys from antique shopping. Makes you wonder where these keys came from, what they opened once upon a time. Whether it would unlock a secret, a forgotten message, a memory. Sometimes people choose to lock their past and throw away the key, and others keep the key to go back decades later to reminisce.
